Use Essential Oils Like an Aromatherapist! How to Use Essential Oils?
Learn how to use essential oils like an aromatherapist. It can be easy and a whole lot of fun.
Essential oil use is all over today. People are taking a half-hour multi-level marketing class and calling themselves wellness advisors, aromatherapists, EO consultants, and many other names, but they have only absorbed what the Multi-Level Marketing Company has sold them; an aromatherapist; this does not make them.
Want to use essential oils like an aromatherapist? Check out these tips.
- How to use essential oils like an Aromatherapist? Become an aromatherapist. It is indeed a simple solution. Love essential oils and aromatherapy, become certified. Many classes cost about the same as enrollment in many MLM companies, and you have not upline. This is the WAY to go as an educator, full disclosure. Getting an aromatherapy education will benefit you and last for a lifetime. It can also be a skill to assist you with a business or practice you already own or work within. We train hundreds of nurses, doctors, midwives, doulas, massage therapists, chiropractors, soapers, toiletries business owners, gardeners, parents, etc. You can fit aromatherapy into many types of work and businesses or have the certification for your family’s health. We also have clinical-level certification programs.
- Above all, don’t drink essential oils. I don’t care who says it is safe. Overall, and the way it has been suggested to be used, it is NOT. Look, essential oils can remove paint, yes, paint, varnish, and even sealant from granite; why would you drink that? The more you drink, the more you use; someone makes money. Essential oil ingestion is a fad that has caused poison control calls to increase by over 100% in some areas. Many cases have to do with ingestion or improper application on children.
- It hurts! Then stop. Aromatherapists do not advocate the “healing crisis” theory. It is called a negative reaction. I don’t care if “Lavender is safe” is the argument; any oil, even safe ones, can cause a reaction for some people or cause reactions with improper use; some reactions can be severe, like seizures. Reactions can range from rashes, hives, and breathing issues to seizures. The most severe reactions come from improper use and ingestion. If it hurts, burns, or stings, stop using it. This means it is not a good fit for your body.
Signs and Symptoms
- Nausea, vomiting.
- Eye irritation or pain
- Skin flushing, redness, or irritation
- Confusion, dizziness, drowsiness, or seizures
- Research. Aromatherapists research essential oils for what your issue is. It is not a “use this blend” from this company situation. We are all different. When you study aromatherapy, you learn how to blend for that person, not a generic illness.
- Patch test. Patch testing is the application of an appropriately diluted essential oil onto a small area of skin to test for a reaction. Make sure the essential oil you are about to use won’t cause a reaction for you. Do patch tests for all oils you plan on using topically.
- Safety first.
- Keep essential oils out of reach of children and pets. Keep up and locked away and out of the sight of children. Essential oil bottles usually do not have child-resistant safety caps. All should have orifice reducers.
- Label essential oils and blends with the name, date, and strength. Improper labeling is standard. DO NOT buy essential oils that do not have the name, Latin name, country of origin, company name, contact information, and dilution or other ingredients on the label. Pure essential oil should only contain that oil. Otherwise, it is a blend.
- Don’t use undiluted essential oils on the skin or mucous membranes. Make sure oils are properly diluted.
- Consider doing a patch test to look for allergies and sensitivities before putting more significant amounts on the skin.
- Avoid ingesting essential oils.
